Research tells us that the act of smiling causes the brain to release neurotransmitters that help lower stress. People who smile often are perceived as confident and happy, and there’s a medical benefit to smiling, too. Smiling and laughter releases endorphins into our system, which have an overall positive effect on our wellbeing.
Unfortunately, not everyone smiles readily, and for many the reason is simple: they’re embarrassed about the look of their teeth. While they know that braces may help them, they’re also afraid that braces will be awkward, hard to get used to, and will take a long time to improve the appearance of their smile.
That’s where Invisalign can help. Compared to conventional braces, Invisalign aligners are comfortable and much less noticeable. Plus, because they are made of SmartTrack material, they are more comfortable and easier to put in and remove than most other clear plastic aligners. For many people, the Invisalign option has enabled them to take steps to improve their smile.
Invisalign treatment can be used to address many alignment issues, including overbite, underbite, crossbite, gaps in teeth, open bite and crowded teeth. It’s effective for teens and adults. Plus, the Invisalign process offers patients a great deal of support, right from the first consultation.
First, your dentist will use iTero Element® scanning software to create a three-dimensional image of your teeth. This scan takes just a few minutes, and there are no molds involved. The dentist will also map out a treatment plan using cutting-edge ClinCheck® software. You’ll even receive a preview of your new smile!
Typically, your treatment plan will last 6 months to 2 years, depending on the extent of the alignment process. You’ll receive your first aligners 2 to 3 weeks after the consultation, and when you do, your dentist will double-check the aligners to ensure a good fit. At this time, you’ll work with your dentist to create an orthodontic treatment plan. You’ll change your Invisalign aligners every 1 or 2 weeks, and review progress with the dentist at 6- to 8-week intervals.
Unlike braces, Invisalign aligners really don’t restrict your lifestyle. You’ll need to wear them most of the time, but you can take them off to enjoy meals and drinks that you would not be able to enjoy with conventional braces. You’ll also be able to fully brush and floss your teeth, leading to better dental outcomes during the alignment process.
Combining convenience and subtlety, Invisalign has made a huge difference to our clients, and we’ve used this system to help many patients discover their smile again. If you’d like to try Invisalign, or just want more information, contact us.
