Dentures

Two types of complete dentures exist, conventional and immediate. Conventional dentures are for people who already are missing the teeth in the upper or lower jaw. This provides the best fitting denture because it is made after the bone and gums have healed and taken their new shape. Immediate dentures are placed the same day the teeth are removed and will need to be realigned later, once the bone and gums have healed and taken their new shape.

Those that receive new dentures may experience increased saliva production and may develop mouth sores within the first 48 hours of wearing them. This is normal, and a return visit will allow your doctors to find the source of the problem and adjust your dentures for comfort. Over time, your dentures will settle on the soft tissues of your mouth.

After your first denture appointment, our doctors will thoroughly explain the process, and fill you in on what to expect, and how to properly care for your dentures. You should get your dentures checked once a year, as both dentures and mouth tissue do change over time.
