Coconut Pulling: Fact or Fiction?

A recent Facebook creation being passed around is the idea of “Coconut Pulling”.

What is it? Does it really work?

According to the Facebook article, coconut pulling is a natural method meant to “clean your teeth”. This article recommends that a person swishes coconut oil around in their mouth for exactly 20 minutes every morning. What are the supposed benefits of doing this? Clean teeth and no need to brush and floss!

In reality, this is nothing but fiction. NO AMOUNT of coconut oil in your mouth will treat gum disease (also known as gingivitis and periodontitis) or prevent cavities.

The only way to help prevent oral health issues is to brush, clean between the teeth, and rinse on a daily basis and eat helthfully.
